DeSean Jackson Wears Nipsey Hussle Cleats, Plans to Auction Them, With Proceeds Going to Hussle’s Kids

Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson wore a special pair of cleats on Sunday that honor Nipsey Hussle during his team’s victory against the Washington Redskins.

Jackson grew up in the same Los Angeles Crenshaw neighborhood as the late rapper and said he’ll wear a different pair of cleats that honor Hussle for every game during the 2019 season.

The pair Jackson wore on Sunday are green, white and black with a checkered design.

One shoe also has Hussle’s smiling face on it, while the other has the “Victory Lap” creator appearing more serious. Plus the cleats have the inscription “Rest in Paradise” on them, as well as a direct quote from the talented wordsmith himself.

“You’ve got to have faith in what you’re doing and not take no for an answer,” it says on one shoe.

Jackson posted a photo of the cleats on Sunday after the game and said he’d auction them, then donate the proceeds to Hussle’s children Kross and Emani Asghedom.

“Every game this year I’m auctioning my @nipseyhussle cleats I wear in Pre game,” he wrote in the caption. “Proceeds will go to his kids Kross & Emani !! Link will be up this week. Rest in paradise bro !! 💪🏾🏁💪🏾 #TMC.”

On April 30 the wide receiver also posted photos of more cleats that honor the iconic artist. One blue pair shows Hussle’s face on it and another quote.

Jackson also showed a black and white pair that had the rapper’s words from his song “Dedication” with Kendrick Lamar written on it.

“Lock us behind gates, but can’t take us. Used to be stay safe, now stay dangerous,” are the words Jackson used.

In the Eagles’ 32-27 victory over the Redskins, Jackson had eight catches, two touchdowns and 154 yards.

Hussle was shot and killed in South Angeles on March 31 at the age of 33 after he had an argument with a man named Eric Holder.

Police have named Holder as the gunman, and he was arrested on April 2 in Bellflower, California, 20 miles from where the shooting occurred.

Holder is currently behind bars, and he pleaded not guilty to murder charges. He’s being held on a $7 million bond.
