Teairra Mari Reportedly Could Face Felony Charges for New York DWI Arrest

Teairra Mari was booked on a misdemeanor charge after being pulled over for a DWI in New York City last month. She’s now reportedly facing an enhanced charge of felony DWI because she already had a DUI case in Los Angeles in 2011, according to TMZ.

As previously reported, Mari was pulled over in her 2014 Dodge Charger when she was exiting the Midtown Tunnel into Queens on June 22. Cops said they saw sparks fly out of her vehicle because she was driving without the right front wheel.

They also claimed that Mari could barely walk when she exited and had a strong smell of alcohol. The singer’s driver’s license was either suspended or revoked when she was stopped as well.

As for her 2011 arrest, Mari was accused of rear-ending the vehicle in front of her when she was driving her Infiniti through Beverly Hills at 3 a.m.

Besides being charged for DUI, Mari was also accused of getting into a tussle with an officer during her arrest, and the cop allegedly received a “minor cut” on his hand.

“Let me start by saying that this is a very embarrassing moment for me, I know that I’ve disappointed so many people including myself,” she said in a statement after the 2011 arrest. “I take full responsibility for my actions, but I absolutely did not attack a Beverly Hills police officer, and I’m very confused by those allegations.”

Mari’s battle with alcohol was documented on “Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood,” and she’s also attended rehab in the past.

In addition to the New York charge, the singer is in a bitter back-and-forth with 50 Cent, whom she sued after he posted a screenshot of her in a sexually explicit video.

The judge threw out that case and ordered Mari to pay the rapper over $30,000 in legal fees, which he’s been bullying her for. In the last few weeks, however, the beef has gone relatively quiet.

But Mari did post a message seven days after her New York arrest that could be related to her drinking struggles.

“What you give power to..has power over you if you let it!” she wrote.
