J. Cole doesn’t reveal a lot about his personal life in interviews but he’ll do it occasionally in a song.
And that’s exactly what he did on the cut “Sacrifices,” off the new LP “Revenge of the Dreamers III,” a collaboration album that features artists from his label Dreamville Records, as well as others.
On the new song, Cole revealed that he and his wife Melissa Heholt are expecting their second child.
“She gave me the gift of my son and plus we got one on the way / She gave me a family to love for that I can never repay,” he rapped.
Heholt, who’s reportedly a successful wedding planner in New York City, has kept an incredibly low profile since her husband became famous. It’s been said the two have been together since they were students at St. John’s University in Queens, New York.
News of the Roc Nation artist and Heholt tying the knot first came in 2015 after reports surfaced that he proposed to her with a four carat diamond ring.
Regarding their first child, Cole dropped the news about him on his 2016 album “4 Your Eyes Only” on the song “She’s Mine, Pt. 2.” but didn’t reveal the gender. He let the news slip, however, during a 2018 interview on “The Angie Martinez Show.”
“I feel I’ve created a life where my purpose is too much placed in music,” he stated. “To where when I’m home and I come home, outside of playing with my son, if I go three days without doing music, making a beat, creating a song, I start to feel miserable.”
As for now, there’s no word on the gender of the second child, and Cole has yet to share photos of his son.
