Reginae Carter’s Message to YFN Lucci on Cucumber Craze: ‘That S–t Is Not Cool’

The recent “cucumber craze” has many celebrities up in arms, including “T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle” star Reginae Carter.

Last week, a provocative video of a woman suggestively gesturing with a cucumber in her mouth went viral and led to a new social media trend. Carter busted her apparent ex-boyfriend, rap artist YFN Lucci, commenting underneath the video with an emoji. Needless to say, his remark led to another one of their social media spats and apparent breakups.

Seemingly catching wind of the “Heartless” rapper’s Instagram stories over the weekend that depicted him at a party full of women participating in the cucumber challenge, the 20-year-old actress made a personal PSA.

“The cucumber situation… I feel like to each his own, that’s what you do but it’s very degrading and it’s not cute,” she said in an Instagram Live posted on Monday. “Also, if you have a daughter…that s–t is not cool. Honestly, the folks that’s posting it and stuff like that you gotta understand if you got kids your kids is going to school and trust me [people] addressing your kids about that and it’s not cool.”

Many seemed to think her comment was aimed at Lucci, who apparently has three daughters and one son.

Carter went on to blast those who were supporting the challenge, saying, “Anybody that’s promoting that and thinking that’s cool I don’t want to be nowhere near them. … They’re childish, they’re dirty and pathetic! That’s all I have to say.”

Fans, of course, chimed in with their reactions to her post.

” I agree with her 100% 👏🏻👏🏻 Toya raised her right I’m glad she said something now I know about it.”

“Okay she hurt 😭 we get it. She only mad about the challenge cause her man was in attendance while some were doing it 🤣.”

“But wasn’t her dad 🤷🏽‍♀️ never mind 🤦🏽‍♀️ She talking like her pops was a pastor or something. Lol Lucci come apologize to ya girl.”

“Periodtttttt❤️ I Love Her Bro 😭🙌🏾 Thank you, finally someone with a brain. Smart girl.”

Carter’s mother, Toya Wright, seconded her daughter’s sentiment, writing, “@colormenae period. Self respect is at an all time LOW! … This type of behavior is not tasteful at all.”

The “Pride & Prejudice” actress allegedly called it quits with Lucci after he was seen seemingly enjoying the challenge on Lil Boosie’s page. He left an upside down happy emoji on a post of woman participating in the cucumber challenge. Moments later, Carter replied to his remark, writing, “Clown.” She also unfollowed him on social media.

It’s safe to say the pair are not on good terms this week.

Independent journalism doesn't fund itself.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
