‘He Whooped My A–‘: August Alsina Jokes About Will Smith Beating Him Up Over the Jada Pinkett Smith Affair Rumors

Tropical vacations, a heartfelt Instagram message and a song about someone having secret romantic feelings.

All of those things and more have fueled longtime rumors that August Alsina and Jada Pinkett Smith have been involved despite Pinkett Smith being married to Will Smith for 21 years.

And on Sunday, the rumor grew even bigger when people relayed a theory about the “The Pursuit of Happyness” star doling out a beatdown to Alsina for being with his wife.

It started when the “No Love” singer posted a photo of himself with a swollen face and complained of allergies.

“A glimpse of my mood everyday life during allergy season,” he captioned the post. “Everything on me is so swollen. I’m really trying to do music sh-t for y’all but my allergies are trying to take me out.”

A lot of his fans seemed to ignore what Alsina wrote and said Will Smith is responsible for the swollen face, not tree pollen.

“That musta been that @willsmith from the ALI MOVIE,” wrote a fan.

“You got to stick and move homie! 😂🤣,” another person joked.

Alsina then joined in on the ribbing and did so by changing the post’s caption.

“Will finally caught up to me about all that Jada crap that was going on in the news,” wrote the singer. “& let’s just say, he whooped my axs!! Guess that ALI training really paid off :).”

But there was one person who didn’t seem to care for all the jokes about Alsina being involved with a married woman.

“I wonder if Will think this sh-t funny cause it’s not,” that person wrote.

The last time Alsina had people talking about him and Pinkett Smith was in April when the singer dropped a cover of Kehlani’s song “Nunya” and included an image of the actress in a lyric video.

“You don’t want the world to know / That you lost a man who loved you all along,” Alsina sang.

Plus, in 2018 he wrote a birthday message to Pinkett Smith on Instagram that many thought was a bit much for a platonic relationship.

“There hasn’t been enough diction created to articulate or express the capacity of my love for you,” he wrote then.

And in 2016 Alsina and the “Set It Off” star were seen on a Hawaiian vacation together, although Pinkett Smith’s daughter Willow Smith was there too.

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
