Boyz II Men said it best in their famous single, “It’s so hard to say goodbye.”
And if you need any proof about how true that lyric is, you can just take a look at a post shared by Dwyane Wade on Sunday, four days after he played the final game of his NBA career.
The now former Miami Heat shooting guard announced his retirement before the start of this season, and his last faceoff was against the Brooklyn Nets with his pals Chris Paul, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony looking on.
And of course, Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union was there supporting him.
In the Instagram photo he shared, Wade seemed a million miles away from that final game in New York, although he was really just a little over 1,200. Because in that post, he showed himself in Fort Lauderdale relaxing with family at a place called Dune, a restaurant, beach residence and spa.
The future Hall of Famer said it was one way to spoil himself after all of the tributes and ceremonies surrounding his retirement.
“After a season full of #onelastdance moments today we treated ourselves to a TeamWade spa day! @spaataubergebeach@dunefortlauderdale,” he wrote.
In the comments, while many said Wade was truly deserving of such a day off, others said they didn’t want him to go and begged for one last go-around.
“Well deserved vacation even tho I wish he would come back for one last season,” someone wrote.
“Will you ever come out of retirement in like 5 years???? Your too young,” wrote another fan.
Then there was also someone who had a very specific idea of what the 37-year-old should do instead of calling it quits, and it had to do with bringing the longtime struggling New York Knicks back to glory.
“Bro take a year off and comeback and join cp3, melo, and bron for one last dance!!!” that person wrote, mentioning James, Paul and Anthony. “Ya’ll 4 sign with the Knicks just for 1 year.”
