Angela Simmons, the daughter of DJ Rev Run, is under fire for sharing a seemingly inappropriate video on social media.
The 31-year-old mother seems to be rubbing some fans the wrong way with her recent carefree nature. She took to Instagram on Wednesday with a clip of herself ostensibly excited about summer’s arrival in June.
In the video, Simmons is gyrating in a skin-revealing white and pink monokini to Cardi B. and Bruno Mars’ song “Please Me.” At one point, she pans the camera toward to the bottom half of her body, showing off her hips and thighs.
“The summer can’t get here any sooner 🙌🏽💕😫 ready for a tan,” Simmons wrote in caption, shouting out the brand for her swimwear.
Fans bombarded her comments, blasting her for her apparent libidinous frolicing.
“Girl you better put some clothes on your dad is Rev Run no offense he didn’t raise you to be almost twerking on the Internet 🤷🏽♂️.”
“What’s next 😳 the pole? Slow your role baby girl! You better than that.”
“She’s trying way too hard definitely has some issues smh.”
“I used to have so much respect for you before you started acting like a Kardashian 🤦.”
Others jumped to the celeb’s defense.
“Stop trolling her page and leave her alone! She doesn’t have [to] cover up her body just like you don’t have to cover ya’ll faces up 🤷🏽♂️.”
“Ya’ll so dumb. U find anything to say bad about @angelasimmons she ain’t doing nothing wrong but dancing smh.”
“These people ridiculous 😫 this girl is living her best life while people follow her just to hate!”
Simmons often gets negative feedback for her revealing clothing choices, seemingly due to her previous professions of faith. Over the years, she’s been extremely vocal about her Christian faith and even vowed to wait until marriage to have sex. So when she first announced in 2016 that she was pregnant by ex-fiancé Sutton Tennyson — who was gunned down last November — she received a mass of backlash.
“Everyone has to look at me and be like, ‘You’re not married. You’re Reverend’s daughter,” she explained to her family during season 3 of “Growing Up Hip Hop.”
“They judged me. People are always going to be in my comments, ‘Where’s the dad?’ It’s nonstop. They think they know me and they really don’t. They have no idea.”
She continued, “Of course, I heard a lot of chatter about me having a child out of wedlock. You got to imagine, my son has to look back at this one day, and, you know what, I’m human and it happened.”
