‘Somebody Lying!’: Fans Remain Skeptical After Kandi Burruss and Cynthia Bailey Attempt to Break Down Kenya Moore Arriving to Party

An alarming phone call between Cynthia Bailey and Kandi Burruss has fans of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” raising their collective eyebrows, and the two peach holders are now sharing their side of the story.

On the March 31 finale of “RHOA,” Bailey hosted a party celebrating the launch of her Seagram’s Escapes beverage. With best friend Nene Leakes in tow and the other cast mates to help her celebrate at the October 2018 bash, things took a turn when Moore arrived with Burruss. Leakes became upset that Bailey didn’t give her a heads-up that Moore was going to be there. Bailey has maintained she didn’t know Moore would show up for certain.

By March, Leakes had lashed out at Bailey, accusing her of doing “very sneaky and underhanded” things. Telling fans to watch the finale to “see what it is that she does,” many were left stunned when they heard a phone call between Burruss and Bailey that indicated the model knew more than she let on.

“I’m mic’d. I’m mic’d. I’m mic’d,” Burruss is heard telling Bailey.

“I just want to make sure we was on the same page setting up how Kenya got there,” the star replied.

This came after Bailey was seen whispering to boyfriend Mike Hill at the party, “I’m supposed to act like I didn’t know Kenya was coming.”

Fans promptly began siding with Leakes as a result.

“This was so dam shady I can’t believe that people in these comments saying it wasn’t a big of deal it’s Cynthia events shows that y’all know nothing about principality and respect.”

“Wow so @cynthiabailey10 y’all really did set up nene ass frfr???”

On the newest edition of Burruss’ online show “Speak On It,” she and Bailey decided to set the record straight. One thing Burruss mentioned about Moore’s invitation: “It has nothing to do with Nene.”

Burruss explained that Moore told her she wasn’t sure she wanted to come to Bailey’s event since it was being filmed and Moore, who was booted from “RHOA” after last season, was reportedly not being paid for her appearance. Moore told Burruss she’d think about it and asked that she not tell Bailey about her possibly showing up.

“The day of the event, Kenya still had not given me a confirmed yes that she was coming,” Burruss says. “So I had already pulled up to the outside of the event, and when I got here is when Kenya called me and said, ‘Don’t go in yet, I’m about to come and I don’t want to go in by myself.'”

Burruss rode around for 30 to 40 minutes and waited to walk in with Moore.

“Now it’s too late for me to call to give Nene a heads up because guess what? Nene’s already at the party,” Bailey says. “So Kenya and Kandi walks in after the fact. So now I’m like, ‘Oh my God, Kenya’s here.'”

The pals also addressed the infamous phone call that alarmed fans during the season finale.

“That did not happen at the Seagram’s party,” Burruss explains. “That happened right before we walked into the scene with Nene and Tanya.”

Tanya Sam joined Leakes as she had an emotional exchange with Bailey, who was joined by Burruss, over Moore’s attendance at the party after the fact.

“So, basically, separate day,” Burruss continues. “I’m getting ready to go into the scene, they have mic’d me up. And before we went into the scene, Cynthia calls me, and I was like ‘Hey, I’m mic’d, I’m mic’d.'”

“And at that point, if I was going to say something that I did not want to be recorded … that’s when I would have hung up my phone and texted Kandi what I needed her to know,” Bailey adds after noting all cast mates alert others that they’re on a hot mic.

“At the end of the day, she was trying to make sure that I was finna not hold responsibility … for bringing Kenya to the party,” Burruss says. “I have always owned the fact that I brought Kenya to the party.”

“If I knew she was coming, I would say, ‘I knew she was coming,'” Bailey adds.

She later addressed her statement to Hill about acting like she didn’t know Moore would be there. Bailey said she’d been drinking a lot of peach bellinis that night and admittedly did not remember saying that. Not wanting to “go against production” who wrote up the subtitles, she said, “I would have said anything at that point.

“If I said it, then it was to keep the peace,” she added, later continuing to doubt what production claimed she said.

The attempt to clear the air, however, was met with doubts among fans.

“Somebody lying!!!”

“Y’all was being shady ladies! But no one cares…..ima fan that wants to see @phaedraparks back, she deserves to revamp her character 🤷🏾‍♀️”

“This ain’t nothing but damage control and if you can’t see that, then you are bind. They lied and got caught and Bravo’s camera have proven that.”
