Fans Support Jailed Tommie Lee Amid Reports She Tried and Failed at Sobriety Before Drunken Court Appearance

Despite Tommie Lee‘s current legal woes, she still has supporters going to bat on her behalf.

The “Love and Hip Hop” Atlanta” alum appears to be going through a difficult time in her life seeing as she just got arrested again last week, prompting some fans to seemingly lose faith in her ability to stay on the right track.

The 34-year-old was placed behind bars on March 14 after arriving to court intoxicated for her child abuse case. Court officials ordered her to undergo drug and alcohol testing and her blood alcohol concentration level was 0.16 — double the legal limit for driving. The star is currently being held in jail without bail as of March 26 after violating her bond.

However, news was just released on Monday that Lee, whose real name is Atasha Chizaah Jefferson, actually had been sober in the weeks before showing up to court drunk last week. According to TMZ, those close to the star say she’d been attempting sobriety but the stress of her recent court appearance last week apparently caused her to relapse.

Sources close to Lee, said she’d been staying away from alcohol for weeks and refused to consume the substance even when partying with friends who were drinking. Lee’s admitted to struggling with excessive drinking during her time on “LHHATL” and said alcohol helps her “cope” with the stresses in her life. However, her recent court appearance for her child abuse case is allegedly what triggered her to fall off the wagon.

“I’ve been working really hard through my problems considering the challenges that’s been set before me since I’ve been home,” said a message from the mother of two on Instagram March 21, apologizing to fans for her recent arrest. “I’ve done all that I can do on my own to shake my habits but I do realize that I need help and I am currently seeking treatment.”

The former “LHHATL” star was charged with child cruelty in October 2018 for allegedly smacking her daughter in the face, dragging her by the hair and slamming her head into a metal locker at the child’s middle school. She was arrested and then released the day after the alleged incident but was thrown back into jail within 24 hours on charges of violating an order to refrain from all contact with the child. Lee could face as much as 54 years behind bars after being indicted on multiple child abuse charges in January.

Fans continue to uplift Lee despite her slew of legal woes.
