Cardi B Goes Off On Critics After News Broke That She’s Trademarking ‘Okurrr’

Cardi B is making more money moves by trademarking her catchphrase “Okurrr,” but some criticized her for it, which she responded to.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Cardi filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office through her company Washpoppin, Inc. She plans to use the phrase on shirts, hoodies, dresses, footwear, leggings, hats and caps, plus other pieces of clothing. The rapper also plans to use it on “paper goods, namely paper cups and posters.”

Clearly, ‘Okurrr’ has become part of Cardi’s brand, and she even used it in a Super Bowl commercial earlier this year, so some might say it makes total sense to trademark it. But not everyone saw it that way, so the Bronx native sent them a message.

“So you h–s is mad because I trademarked ‘Okurrr?’” she asked. “Let me tell you something, every time I go to a corporate meeting, these folks be like, ‘Oh my God, can we just please hear you say ‘Okurrr?’ Every time I go to a TV show, ‘Hey, hey, can you please teach me how to say ‘Okurrr?’”

“You think I ain’t gonna profit off this sh–?” added Cardi. “Bitch, white folks do it all the motherf–king time. You’re gonna be mad at me because I want to get some motherf–king money? I’m gonna secure all the f–king bags … It’s 2019 bitches. It’s a lot of ways to get rich. Y’all just got to get yourselves some business and stop minding motherf–king others.”

Fans chimed in.

“She wasn’t the first to say it but clearly she was the smartest and was the one to trademark it. Cant knock the hustle.”

“That was the smartest move she’s made,” wrote a second person. “I wish I had some stupid phrase that I made famous so I can cash these checks.”
