After being gone since late December, the official date of Wendy Williams‘ return to “The Wendy Williams Show” has been announced. She’ll be back just before this coming spring, according to the show’s production company.
“Wendy Williams is an incredible talent with the most unique voice in daytime. We can’t wait to welcome her back to her iconic purple chair on the set of her show on Monday, March 4th,” wrote Debmar-Mercury on Thursday.
The company also thanked those who filled in for Williams, people like Nick Cannon, Sherri Shepherd and others.
“We so appreciate all of the guest hosts and panelists who filled in for Wendy during this time,” the statement read. “These people are, and always will be, true family to the show. And we want to thank all of the loyal and supportive fans who have been with us for 10 years now.”
Williams released her own statement as well.
“Salute to Debmar-Mercury for believing from the start and thanks to my staff for tirelessly holding it down for me,” she wrote.
Some may be surprised that Williams thanked her staff, considering at least one of them blasted her for keeping employees in the dark about her return.
The insider also spoke badly of Williams’ husband Kevin Hunter, who’s been accused of abusing her, being unfaithful, and fathering a child with another woman. The couple has been married for 22 years, and they have a 19-year-old son, Kevin Hunter Jr.
But other reports state that Williams’ absence was related to her having Graves’ disease. Plus she was nursing an injured shoulder that she’s been taking pain medication for.
“The Wendy Williams Show” will air reruns on the week of Feb. 25 until Williams’ official return, and many of her fans expressed excitement that the two-month hiatus is nearly over.
“Happy to hear this I’ve been a Wendy fan for years glad she will be back, love you Wendy,” someone wrote.
But many said they want Williams to address some of the abuse and cheating allegations surrounding her husband, and if she doesn’t they don’t want her to talk about other celebrities.
“I’m sure she’s going to cry for about a whole damn 30 mins on her hot topics segment. Just spill the tea 🍵, your own personal tea,” one person wrote on Thursday.
“Theres no bigger fan than me..however when Wendy comes back it will be the same thing, I was sick, I love my hubby all the rumors were & are untrue,” another person chimed in. “Sorry Wendy but I feel its too late.”
“It’s gonna be hard to listen to her crack on people when she keeps denying that she’s in an abusive relationship and he’s been cheating on her over 10 yrs,” someone else wrote. “I don’t get why she stay.”
