Reality star Mariah Huq is finally addressing what she calls “patently false, defamatory and legally actionable” rumors that she dabbles in cocaine.
The “Married to Medicine” star took to Instagram on Friday to address the accusations made against her by former friend and co-star Quad Webb-Lunceford.
“In recent weeks, I have endured a series of malicious and deceitful attacks to my personal character and integrity,” Huq wrote. “As a wife and mother of young children, the impact on my family and me has been profound and incalculable.”
She added: “I do not, nor have I ever used illicit recreational drugs of any kind.”
During part one of the show’s Season 6 reunion last month, Webb-Lunceford, 38, who was already fired up over claims that she had slept with Huq’s brother-in-law, asserted that she once walked in on her co-star snorting cocaine. Huq immediately shot down the allegations.
“Cocaine?!,” she said, stunned. “Did you just accuse me? I’ve never done drugs a day in my life. Are you kidding me? I don’t even smoke cigarettes, I don’t even do hookah.”
Despite the denial, Quad-Webb has doubled down on her claims in recent days, telling Us Weekly “I know what I saw. I saw her actually using the drug herself … in 2013, I saw her start using, and it just spiraled out of control. She’s just picked up the habit, even … has it now.”
Fans wasted no time jumping to Huq’s defense and flooding her with words of support.
“You are a beautiful person inside and out. And sadly people take advantage of your kindness. Stay strong and know your self worth,” one fan wrote. “Love ya Sis and hold in there your true friends will.be with you all the way ❤”
“Don’t nobody believe that mess out of Quad mouth …,” another chimed in. “She wasn’t saying that when y’all took care of her when she had nothing. My gosh how people forget when they get a little $ where they have been.”
One fan urged Huq, who executive produces the show, to take responsibility for her role in the fray, writing, “All of you grow up! Play better up lifting roles and send a more positive vibrations over the air waves.”
