Pastor John Gray‘s wife, Aventer Gray, shot back at a rumor that her husband impregnated another woman during their marriage and gave her a new Lamborghini as a make-up gift.
On Tuesday Atlanta Black Star shared a June 2018 video of John admitting to his congregation that he was once on the brink of divorce.
“We had to keep smiling because even though we were struggling, even though I was failing as a husband, I was already in front of the people, and the people can’t really receive my brokenness,” he explained. “Me and my wife just kept smiling and nobody knew we were getting ready to get a divorce … I started listening to the wrong voices and let some people get too close. She found out, and she set it off, just like a good wife should.”
Aventer, who was right next to her husband during the confession, also spoke about a ‘strange woman’ and explained why she stuck around.
“Was I upset? Yes. Was I heartbroken? Yes,” she said. “But you better learn how to get in there for the — what’s the vows? — better and worst so when the worst shows up you don’t run away.”
The months-old footage resurfaced on the heels of Pastor John buying the $200,000 Lamborghini truck for his wife, which, again, many thought was a gift to make up for the past. And it’s something Aventer seemingly addressed in her post.
“My peace is in tact, because I know who I am and you should know who you are as well,” she wrote on Instagram. “Please help those who thirst and crave to see others’ character tainted and take the time they should be using towards their own purpose to actually create narratives and fabricate things about you and help those who bandwagon hop, because they aren’t sure who they are while simultaneously trying to pick apart who you are, because that somehow gets them closer to heaven. Right?”
“The attacks are equivalent to how frightened the devil is by what your life, your covenant, your family, and your purpose represents,” added Aventer.
Pastor John hasn’t addressed the baby rumors, but he did respond to those who blasted him for buying the new truck.
