Ciara just wanted to show some love to her husband Russell Wilson, but her words and lovey-dovey photo with the football star were overshadowed by folks who scrutinized her hair.
On Sunday, Dec. 30, the star uploaded a photo on Instagram with her Seattle Seahawks quarterback spouse and wrote about her pride in him.
“Love you baby. I’m so proud of you @DangeRussWilson. Your hard work, consistency, and dedication motivates me. No matter what, you’re always a winner to me! #Playoffbound #GoHawks,” she wrote.
Wilson went 12-for-21 passing for 152 yards and a touchdown as Seattle beat Arizona a week after clinching a NFC wild-card playoff berth, set for Jan. 5 on the road against the Dallas Cowboys.
He also set a franchise record for the most touchdown passes in a regular season when he made his 35th during Sunday’s 27-24 victory over the Cardinals. Wilson also wrapped up the team record for regular-season touchdown passes when his first-quarter strike to Tyler Lockett gave the quarterback 196 with Seattle. Plus, the star’s passer rating of 110.9 during the 2018 season is a new high for Seahawks quarterbacks.
Many fans sang praises of the couple and Ciara’s support of her athlete spouse.
“Beautiful GUYS!!!🖤🖤”
“@ciara I love you guys ❤”
“One of my favorite couples 😊”
“This the type of love that will make everything around you glow and blossom. #blacklove.”
“I’m not a Seahawks fan but I’m definitely a #teamwilson fan! Ciara & Russell!!❤️”
However, things took a turn when folks began taking aim at Ciara’s dramatic ponytail.
“The ponytail is a no for me dawg. When will Black queens stop wearing the weave 🤔Ciara don’t start with these damn hairstyles now 😂 you been doing alright.”
“No..other races wear clip ons/extensions that look like the very hair that grows from their scalp..hence the name ‘extensions’ 🤯😂..they only wear afros on halloween..and its meant as a joke..they do not wear afro hair 365 days out of the year that looks nothing like the hair from their own scalp..if they did it would look ridiculous..much like sew-ins and lace fronts black women wear..now that I educated you on the differences between what other races actually do🤯..I hope you see how ridiculous weave looks🤣..I hope you know now🤔.. I hope that helps you by answering all of your questions good day😎.”
