Shaunie O’Neal’s Son Successfully Undergoes Heart Surgery After ‘Basketball Wives’ Star Asks For Prayers

After Shaunie O’Neal asked fans to send up prayers for her son who underwent a heart procedure Thursday, the UCLA freshman has assured the public he’s doing fine.

Shareef O’Neal had a surgery Dec. 13 to repair an irregularity with his heart, Yahoo Sports reported Friday. By Thursday night, the young athlete and son of NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal was out of surgery.

“I made it, Thank you for all the love and support! I really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers, that’s what helped me through this surgery. I’m on the road to recovery, and I’ll be back soon…better than ever. His Words, typed by @mimioneal_ ❤️,” a message on Shareef’s Instagram page said.

The memo came after his “Basketball Wives” star mother asked fans to pray for the 18-year-old, who needed to correct an electrical issue with his heart. The problem meant Shareef sat out the entire season.

“This morning was by far my toughest moment being a Mom,” the reality show’s executive producer confessed. “If only I could take his place today. Could I at least go with him in that operating room and hold his hand. Separating from him as he was wheeled off to surgery was heartbreaking. THATS MY BABY! I don’t care how old, how big, how grown my kids get I still want to protect them. I had no control over any of this. But there is a God, I trust and believe He is in there with my baby right now and has complete control.  #prayforreef 🙏🏽❤️ @shareefoneal #mybaby.”

In light of Shareef, who is expected to play for UCLA next season, making it out of surgery, fans have been sending him lots of supportive messages.

“Praying for you. God bless you abundantly ❤️.”

“Hell yea reef!💪🏽”

“Yes sir time for the grind.”

“❤️best wishes.”
