Michael B. Jordan Explains Exactly Why It’s Hard For Him To Date: ‘They’re Going to Talk About You’

A lot of celebrities have talked about how hard it is for them to date, but not too many have explained why. But Michael B. Jordan has and he did it during a newly released interview with GQ.

During the conversation, the 31-year-old was honest about having “options” when it comes to meeting women, but in terms of being able to go through the normal process of getting to know someone, it’s ruined by his level of celebrity.

Jordan created a scenario with the reporter who interviewed him to illustrate his point.

“It’s, like, I could meet you right now, boom, right here. Me and you sitting here chilling, whatever, meal, whatever. Somebody could be over there, see this and all of a sudden you’re my girl now,” he said. “So then they’re going to talk about you. They’re going to find out who you are. They’re gonna find out what your Instagram is. They’re going to find us in that.”

“And all the fan club and everybody else is going to find out who you are, and now you and I are forever associated with one another,” the actor continued. “So now, how do you go anywhere normal, chill, just getting to know somebody that you just met, that you may or may not hit it off at all? That part of dating is tough.”

Some may say Jordan needs to date someone equally famous, since that person will already be familiar with things like false rumors and the paparazzi. Possibly someone like Nicki Minaj, since she she’s been famous for well over a decade. Plus, she recently expressed interest in Jordan on Sunday at the 2018 People’s Choice Awards.

“Shout-out to Donatella Versace for custom making this outfit for me,” said Nicki while accepting the award for top Female Artist of 2018. “And shout-out to Michael B. Jordan because he’s going to be taking it off of me tonight.”

Jordan has yet to respond to Nicki, but in the GQ interview he admitted to being immature when it comes to dating, which is why he just wants to focus on career and self-improvement.

“Now I’m not saying options aren’t there. I’m not saying that,” he explained. “But as far as like the nuance of dating, it’s just not the same. I’m just going to keep trying to work on myself and build this empire.”
