Steve Harvey never specified who exactly could be a contender for his “Blue Cheese Award” honoring the best-dressed person, so his high-profile pick might turn a few heads.
“Who better to give my very first ‘Blue Cheese Award’ to one of my favorite ballers out there,” Harvey says in the Friday, Nov. 2 Instagram clip. “The one and only Cam Newton. People always talk about Cam’s outfits but the thing you gotta give Cam is, he’s innovative, he’s bold, he’s creative.
“I love the flyness of Cam Newton,” Havey continues, singing the Carolina Panthers quarterback’s praises. “And what’s flyer than a man with his son? The boy’s name is Chosen and this boy done built a hell of a career. He’s outstanding in the community and to me, he is always so fly. So Cam Newton, congratulations. You got the very first ‘Blue Cheese Award’ offered by the original chunk of blue cheese himself. The one and only Steve Harvey.”
Harvey initially told fans about his competition on Friday, Oct. 26 and explained where the title originated from.
“A few years ago in Philadelphia, I was performing and a guy came up to me and said, ‘Steve, man, you always so clean. Man, I’m gon’ start calling you Blue Cheese.’ He said, ‘You know why they call you Blue Cheese?’ I said, ‘Naw, man, why?’ He said, ‘Cause you be dressing,'” he explained.
Meanwhile, fans have reacted to Harvey giving the NFL QB the first honor and also shared who they thought should get the award next at the comic’s request.
