Cardi B announced that her new single “Monster” would be out this week, and she shared the artwork on her Instagram page.
On it, she appears completely naked, aside for a pair of heels, a Laurel DeWitt hat made of gold chains and Christian Cowan gloves made of watches. She also posted other nude photos to support the single.
But despite the Bronx rapper saying the “Monster” cut would come out on Thursday, she dropped it two days ahead of schedule — maybe because the song was leaked and she pretty much blamed Nicki Minaj‘s fans the Barbz.
“We tried to retract [the song] but you know the Barbz, they always posting me,” said Cardi on IG Live. “They always post everything I do. They claim they hate me, but they really love me, because they be on my page before my fans. Everything that I do, they be on it before my fans so clearly, that seems like love to me.”
“Money” is the first solo single that Cardi has released since her massively successful “Invasion of Privacy” album, and it has the same vibe as her breakout cut “Bodak Yellow.” In fact, both songs were produced by JWhiteDidIt.
As of now, the new song hasn’t been out a full 24 hours, but people have already reviewed it quite passionately.
“Go, Cardi B. Queen killed it.” one person commented.
“This song reminds me to not have expectations,” wrote someone else.
“Yes, Cardi. You’re the best and so is this,” a third person chimed in.
Others said the new mom stole Nicki’s flow on the song.
“I think she tried to copy Nicki Minaj’s ‘Beez in the Trap’ with 2 Chainz. Same flow,” another person stated.
