Alfonso Ribeiro had to refresh Jada Pinkett Smith’s memory after the actress said she went on a date with him before meeting Will Smith.
It was a story that she told on her “Red Table Talk” show, when she and Will were discussing how they met.
“I actually think I dated Alfonso,” Pinkett Smith recalled. “I think we went on one date together.”
Will had a vague recollection of the date as well.
“And he, like, took you on a motorcycle or something,” he said afterward.
But apparently, the story seemed off to Ribeiro. In fact, he said Jada was straight up wrong, because they only had one platonic outing and that’s it.
“Sorry Jada. Your memory is a little off,” he tweeted. “We went to lunch with your family when we both guest starred on ‘A Different World,’ the year before you became a regular.”
“My fault, Alf,” Jada quickly replied. “I thought it was a date.”
But Ribeiro did have something to do with the actress and Will connecting, since Will saw her on “Different World” and Ribeiro already knew her.
The “Pursuit of Happiness” star said at that point, he knew that Jada was someone special, a person that he’d definitely have to meet.
“I remember you were on A ‘Different World,’ and Alfonso knew everybody,” remembered Will. “When I saw you on ‘Different World,’ it was that thing and I don’t know what it is, the bell rings. And I knew that there was something in our energy that would be magic.”
