Vic Mensa Responds To Rumor That He Was Stabbed Or Shot As the Violent Threats Continue

It seems Vic Mensa has been public enemy No. 1 after he criticized the late rapper XXXTentacion during his freestyle at the 2018 BET Hip-Hop Awards. And on Friday (Oct. 19) there was a rumor floating around that Mensa was either shot or stabbed, but he denied it.

“I hear people saying I got stabbed, I got shot,” said Mensa,” who’s still receiving violent threats for the freestyle. “They looking for me. I just wanna let y’all know I’m alright.”

Even though the BET Hip-Hop Awards aired on Tuesday, Oct. 16, the backlash against Mensa started earlier this month when the show and his freestyle was taped. But in the last few days it grew even grown louder.

“Your favorite rapper is a domestic abuser / Name a single Vic Mensa song, XXX we all know you won’t live that long / I don’t respect n—– posthumously / Homicide ain’t new to me / Catch up with [DJ] Akademiks at your eulogy,” rapped Mensa.

Besides people being upset that he mentioned someone who’s deceased, they were fuming because XXX’s mother was in the audience during the freestyle,” which the rapper said he didn’t know. He also released a single earlier this week to address the controversy called “Empathy.”

“I vehemently reject the trend in hip-hop of championing abusers, and I will not hold my tongue about it,” Mensa explained on Instagram. “I don’t give a f— about getting attention. I care about bringing awareness and holding people accountable for their actions.”

XXXTentacion was shot and killed during a robbery attempt in his home state of Florida in June of this year. He was 20 years old.
