It’s not everyday that you see a rapper celebrate his marriage on social media, but that’s what Kevin Gates did on Instagram.
On Wednesday (Oct. 17) he posted a message for his wife Dreka Gates and wished her a happy third wedding anniversary.
“Happy anniversary @drekagates,” wrote Kevin next to a throwback photo of himself and Dreka. “Thank you for everything. We really got it out the dirt. #alhumdulillah.”
Of course, it’s not clear what “the dirt” truly symbolizes, but Kevin could be referring to his wife sticking by his side through legal dramas.
In 2016, the rapper received a six month prison sentence for kicking a female fan at one of his concerts, and in April of 2017 he was transferred to Illinois State Prison, where he pleaded guilty to felony gun possession.
But regardless of what the rapper meant in his post, it seemingly touched a lot of people and received almost a half million likes in just 14 hours. Folks left plenty of comments as well.
“My favorite couple. Beautiful people with beautiful souls,” one person wrote.
“I love me some y’all. Happy Anniversary,” wrote another.
Kevin also attached two other photos, possibly to show he and his wife at different stages of their relationship.
The second pic shows the couple dancing at their wedding and laughing. The third was recently taken at one of Kevin’s concerts in Atlanta.
Meanwhile, Dreka didn’t send an anniversary message to Kevin, but she did post a photo from an airplane, possibly on her way with her husband somewhere to celebrate their time together.
“Can you say beautiful?” she wrote next to a photo of big brown mountains and a blue sky.
