Former “Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood” actress Masika Kalysha went on a full social media tirade on Tuesday and came clean on how she was able to wiggle free from VH1’s contract.
The mother of one quit “LHHH” in February due to producers and the staff members portraying her in the wrong light. Sources also reported that Kalysha felt she’d “outgrown” the show.
In a series of tweets Kalysha wrote yesterday, she broke down how VH1 tried to blackball her and keep her from appearing on other reality shows.
“It’s amazing how many blessing God has literally dropped in my lap,” said the reality star. “[VH1] tried to Black ball me. Stopped me from Hollywood Squares, the real, & even my realtor’s new show!”
She continued, “To set the record straight. I am who I am. I am not who who portray me to be with your edits & trickery.”
Kalysha said being on the “LHH” franchise caused her to suffer from mental illness while filming. She finally took a stand against VH1 after becoming pregnant with her daughter Khari.
“I was depressed. In a toxic mental state,” the star tweeted. “I know I have a great purpose in this world but I know I was created to be a mother. & I made it very clear while I was pregnant. I will NO longer play along with the bullshit that can & will have impact on my child.”
The 33-year-old said after filming scenes that made her look like a “h*e” and a “1 night stand” she became fed up. Kalysha said the last straw was placing her in non”existent love triangle” with rapper Fetty Wap and Alexis Sky who she accused of trying to “profit” off of everything she built for herself.
Kalysha said she had enough and “had to leave.” She added that VH1 “laughed” at her when she asked for a release and had to hire a legal team. The star’ contract stated she was legally required to record 5 more seasons of “LHHH”. However, she decided to take a leap of faith and “jumped Off the edge.”
“[I] Quit,” the star explained. “Trusted God & not only did I get my release that I was told I would NEVER GET but I was on 2 new shows before the ink dried.”
Kalysha took her talent to “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta” on WeTV and has already began filming.
The star also thanked Mona Scott during her Twitter rant and said she’s not nearly as bad as people tried to make her out to be.
“Mona has a job to do just like we do & she has gotten such a bad rep for being the ‘face’ of a franchise,” said Kalysha. But behind the scenes there’s so many people making decisions & pressing buttons that you will never see.”
