NeNe Leakes recently threw a weave free event that led to a huge discussion among fans in the comment section.
The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality star hosted a hair function for her co-stars over the weekend that prevented the ladies from wearing any wigs or hair extensions. A fan page posted a video of Leakes’ cast-mates Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey and Marlo Hampton all sporting their tresses without the weaves and wigs.
The social media account wrote, “The ladies (Kandi, Marlo, Eva, Shamari, Tanya, Yovanna, Cynthia and Porsha) all joined #NeneLeakes at #CasaLeakes last night for a ‘WEAVE FREE’ get together! They were all required to show up in their natural hair. NO OR EXTENSIONS!”
However, fans weren’t too keen on Leakes “No Weave” event and compared it to former RHOA cast-mate Kim Fields’ “Beatless Brunch.”
“Didn’t Kim Fields try to do something like this,” one fan asked.
“Yep,” one person replied. “And some made a joke of it they really did her dirty. It was no makeup and they all pretty much came with it on anyway.
“But wait, a few made a big deal out of Kims ‘Beatless Brunch.’ NeNe wasn’t there at the time but it seems like a bite off of her idea. They really did Kim dirty.”
“Lol but they couldn’t show up for Kim Fields.”
“Well wait a minute! When Kim Fields did a Beatless Face/ Go Natural Theme ya’ll went off on her! Hmmm,” said one fan.
During season 8 of the RHOA, Fields hosted a social function the “Beatless Brunch” which encouraged the ladies to come make-up free. However, some of the co-stars including Kenya Moore, had an issue with the event and accused Field’s of throwing shade their way. Many of the ladies wore make-up anyway.
