Eight days after his undisclosed surgery, NeNe Leakes has brought her husband Gregg Leakes home.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star went on Instagram Live and showed her spouse getting wheeled out of the hospital Wednesday, Sept. 26 after he underwent a five-hour surgery on Monday, Sept. 17. As the couple drove home, Gregg began to sob.
“Gregg, don’t. Everything’s gonna be fine,” NeNe reassures her husband. “The good thing is, you going home, OK?”
The night before, Leakes went on Instagram Live to explain the latest about her husband’s health. She said he was still hospitalized but feeling “a whole lot better” and she hoped to have him home by the end of the week.
“He is trying to start back eating solid foods,” she said. “As far as everything else, Gregg is on the rise. I think everything is gonna be great and Gregg should be home really soon.”
NeNe added the doctor said he has 1-3 weeks in the hospital to recover. And she noted that months earlier, Gregg was in the hospital it was for 17 days.
“Once he gets home, it’s still a full month of him just healing, not being sore anymore, that kind of stuff,” she said. “It’s kind of a long healing process. You know the biggest issues is just, Gregg wants to be home.”
As for how she’s holding up, Leakes admitted it’s hard to watch her husband battle cancer.
“It’s definitely a hard thing to watch any family member go through the big C word. But I’m hanging in there. It’s a lot, though. It’s a lot on me but I’m just trying to do everything I can do to make Gregg’s process the best it can be.”
NeNe revealed her husband’s cancer diagnosis to fans in June after canceling some comedy performances to be by his side in the hospital the month before. Over the summer, the couple had been eating a clean, vegan and pescatarian diet to as treatment in lieu of chemotherapy.
