Whoopi Goldberg Blasts Republican Officials Protecting Supreme Court Nominee Amid Rape Allegations

During Thursday’s episode of “The View“, host Whoopi Goldberg slammed Republican officials for not granting an alleged rape victim’s request for an investigation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Dr. Christine Blasely Ford accused Judge Kavanaugh of violently raping her at a party in the 1980’s and asked for the FBI to investigate her allegations. However, Republicans have not agreed to Ford’s request, but motioned for she and Kavanaugh to testify during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Monday.

Whoopi called out Republicans on “The View” for their hypocrisy and suggested that an investigation would be conducted if a Democrat Nominee was accused of rape.

“For me, I would like her to testify,” Goldberg expressed. “I want her to dignify the 900 alumni who wrote from her school, you know, 900 women from the time she was in school to 2018. They said …  We believe Dr. Blasey Ford, we’re grateful that she came forward. Her experiences are all too consistent with the stories we’ve heard and lived with while attending Holton-Arms.”

Goldberg went onto say that many of the men on the Judiciary Committee still have the “same mindset” even after the #MeToo movement. The “Sister Act” actress glanced at the camera and said, “This is what she said happened — you should check it out.”

She continued, “You would check it out if it was Barack Obama. You would check it out if it was Bill Clinton.”

Sunny Hostin chimed and asked, “What’s the message to women in this country if they don’t look into this?’

Whoopi said she’d hope Republicans wouldn’t “rush” a possible investigation and would take the time to look into the rape allegations thoroughly.

She added, “[But] it will get rushed, because I’m sure they’ve got the votes.”
