Fox News host Juan Williams seemed to be the only one shocked Tuesday after President Donald Trump launched a racist attack against former aide Omarosa Manigault Newman, who he called a “dog.”
The president’s harsh comments come amid a nasty public feud with Manigault Newman over bombshell claims laid out in her latest book, “Unhinged.”
“Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!” Trump tweeted.
The biting rebuke left Williams visibly stunned.
“You just wonder — dog?” he gasped moments after Trump posted the attack against Manigault. “What is he thinking? Doesn’t he know he’s president?”
“What do you think of these tweets?” asked guest host Neil Cavuto. “They go with no abandon, on and on.”
“The best light I can shine on it is that he is himself,” Williams responded. “That’s Donald Trump. That’s what he’s thinking. I just wish that the impulse controls were a little stronger. And I think that it’s offensive — even though she is not someone who you would consider a Trump supporter at the moment.”
The host acknowledged that Manigault had flipped on the president and said labeling her a “traitor” would have been more appropriate.
“But I don’t know why you would stoop to the level to calling somebody a dog,” Williams added. “He knows how people are going to react. So, is it intentional? I don’t know. I just think it’s not good.”
