Former Bravo reality star and model Melyssa Ford was recently released from the hospital after her Jeep was clipped by an 18-wheeler in late June.
The model suffered from severe injuries to her head and throughout her body. A source told the Jasmine Brand that Ford is walking with the assistance of a walker and plans to go through physical therapy.
Apparently, the reality star was riding down Ventura highway in her vehicle on Thursday and was heading to her friend’s baby shower in California. “An 18-wheeler merged into her lane, clipping her back right tire as she exited Brand/Central Avenue,” her PR agent told U.S. Weekly in a statement. “The violent impact sent her 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited into a tailspin and the vehicle flipped three times before landing upside down.”
The severe car accident left Ford with “serious head injuries including a skull fracture, concussion, bleeding in her brain and other severe cuts and bruises.” Her vehicle was totaled and she was taken to a nearby Los Angeles hospital.
Ford’s long-time friend Claudia Jordan opened a GoFundMe page for the 41-year-old to help with medical and other expenses. So far it’s raised $21,000. One source told the news outlet that many of Ford’s celebrity friends haven’t contributed to the fundraiser.
“Melyssa has been in this industry for years and I think she’s surprised that some of these celebs that she’s friends with haven’t donated or shared the GoFundMe link. She’s such a giving person. It’s disheartening,” the source added.
The truck driver who struck the reality star is still at large. Jordan wrote, “Melyssa doesn’t remember much so I’m hoping witnesses will come forward and assist in putting the pieces back together.”
