Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has had an amazing year with the success of “Black Panther” and it just keeps getting better.
Nyong’o was chosen as the new face of Calvin Klein’s perfume ad “Calvin Klein Women.” The campaign also featured actress Saoirse Ronan. The two women are positioned in the print campaign beside women who personally inspired them.
The “Queen of Katwe” actress selected Eartha Kitt and Katharine Hepburn as the two idols she admired and Ronan chose Sissy Spacek and Nina Simone. The celebrities’ images are featured on an ad with Klein’s pink fragrance.
Calvin Klein collaborated with Raf Simmons on the campaign and it happens to be the first fragrance released since Simons was crowned brand’s chief creative officer.
“With this fragrance, we wanted to put the concept of plurality center stage. The campaign is an exploration of femininity — a group of women bonded by a common thread; the desire to have the power to create their own identity, and to support and lead the way for those that come after them,” the creative officer revealed in a statement. “Calvin Klein Women is inspired by the transmission of strength and inspiration from one woman to the next; by plurality combined with individuality; freedom of expression; and the notion that the collective is as vital as the individual.”
The full television campaign of Nyong’o and Ronan will premiere later in the summer. The new fragrance will be available in Macy’s August 15.
Nyong’o will be starring in the upcoming movie “Star Wars: Episode IX” that’s set to hit theaters in 2019.
