A Bay Area driver loses her job after a video captured her shouting racial slurs and flipping off a black couple while on the highway.
According to the driver Shamiek Shepperd, the woman seemingly became upset when he switched lanes. He said immediately afterward, he noticed the woman speeding up on the passenger side of the car. She swerved in front of his car forcing him to hit his brakes several times. Shepperd’s girlfriend Marshaunte Farris recorded a portion of the video while her boyfriend was driving and said, “It actually made me upset. If anyone has seen the video, I was kind of shocked that she went along and said that.”
Farris posted this unpleasant video on Twitter and the video quickly went viral with over 100,000 views. It didn’t take long for someone to reveal the identity of the woman as an employee at a finance company.
The company, that remained unnamed released a statement stating to local news station KRON, “The behavior reflected in the video is completely inconsistent with our values and the individual involved is no longer employed by the firm.”
Even though the women that shouted the hate words was fired from her job, Farris said that doesn’t satisfy her. Telling the news outlet, “You know, I gain nothing from her losing her job. I just wanted to post the video, hoping that it would go viral so we could make an example that this is not okay to treat people like that… she could have killed us.”
