Toni Braxton fans got the ultimate music fan’s surprise when she casually posted a music video for a song from her 1996 album “Secrets.”
The song in question is “Talking In His Sleep,” the fifth track from the Babyface and L.A. Reid-executive produced LP.
The tune is about adultery and the newly unveiled video sees Braxton gazing at the camera and lying across her man as she coos, “Why is it that the men are forgiven and the women aren’t? I don’t know, maybe, maybe I should forgive him. Maybe I’m over-reacting. What do you think?”
Braxton didn’t give any explanation for dropping the clip Monday, July 2. She simply captioned the post, “Ladies, you already know…#Secrets.”
Fans couldn’t contain their excitement over the video.
“Yeassssssssssssss.”
“Love it!!!”
“Yes yes 👌👌👌🤚🤚.”
They also shared surprised reactions that a music video even existed.
“Wow! Never knew this song has a video.”
“Wait!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why am I just seeing this video?”
“What???? there was a video?? All these years after having this album [I] never knew there was a video. Who knew 🤷🏽♀️.”
“WAIT A MINUTE!!!….there’s a video to this song!???”
“I’m a huge a Toni fan and I neeeeeeeeever knew about ‘Talking In His Sleep’ video 🤔 I still love this song til this day 😍😍😍.”
Despite the song not becoming a single, judging from fan’s responses, it’s definitely a favorite.
“Talking In His Sleep” is the one track from “Secrets” on which Braxton is the sole writer. Keith Crouch is credited as a composer and he’s also produced for other R&B acts like Brandy, Eric Benét, Boyz II Men and Deborah Cox along with gospel singer CeCe Winans.
“Sleep” is one of several songs on the album dedicated to being in and out of love. And several singles released from the record — including “Un-Break My Heart,” “You’re Makin’ Me High” and “Let It Flow” — all topped the Billboard Hot 100.
