Nicki Minaj isn’t one to take things sitting down and she proved as much when she hit back at a writer to criticized her music.
Writer and content creator Wanna, who resides in Toronto, is used to writing about rap and hip hop, so when she chimed in on Minaj’s latest music from her upcoming release, “Queen,” it wasn’t a stretch.
“You know how dope it would be if Nicki put out mature content? No silly s—. Just reflecting on past relationships, being a boss, hardships, etc,” Wanna tweeted Friday, June 29. “She’s touching 40 soon, a new direction is needed.”
That same night, Minaj lit up Wanna in her direct messages and told the writer off about the rapper’s craft.
“Eat a d— you hatin’ ass hoe. Got the nerve to have a Trini flag on your page. You must not have heard the “Pinkprint” or “Pills N Potions” “Bed of Lies” “Save Me,” my recent feature with Alicia Keys, Tasha Cobbs,” Nicki hit back. “Just say you jealous. I’m rich, famous, intelligent, pretty and go! But wait, leave my balls. Tired of you sucking on them.”
“I dropped my album almost 4 years ago. … “How about you GET LIKE ME? Why don’t you ask me to help you get RICH. Been on top & I ain’t going NOWHERE HOOOOOOOO 👅😜🤪.”
Allegedly, Wanna’s opinion didn’t just upset Minaj but her fans, too. Wanna claimed she got death threats from the Kingdom, as Minaj’s fanbase is known, as a result of her tweet.
She also replied to Minaj, remaining firm on her critique. Still, Wanna, who has since made all of her social media accounts private, has been terminated from her Karen Civil internship after violating her non-disclosure agreement in connection to a separate artist.
And while some fans took up for Minaj, not all of them have been backing her up the way some may have expected.
“I think Nicki Minaj is just fed up with people bashing her, she does A LOT of ignoring but at times when she sees some ignorant s— she responds. Y’all act like just because she’s rich, famous and in her 30s she can’t have feelings? Nobody is perfect.”
