After Kanye West’s Twitter rant espousing Donald Trump made headlines, the president’s fundraising campaign has got a hold of how it can use the posts to its advantage.
“DON’T BE SILENCED,” a text message sent to the campaigns hopeful donors begins. “Group think is a mandate in today’s society and when a free thinker like Kanye West speaks truth, they attack him.
“We support Kanye speaking his mind, even if sometimes we do not agree on the issues,” it continued. “Do not let them silence you. Get your red MAGA hat today.”
The text, which was publicized on Twitter by journalists Amanda Hess and Julie Bykowicz, echoed sentiments West recently tweeted about free thinkers who “don’t fear retaliation for your thoughts. The traditional thinkers are only using thoughts and words but they are in a mental prison. You are free. You’ve already won. Feel energized. Move in love not fear. Be afraid of nothing.”

You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.

If your friend jumps off the bridge you don't have to do the same. Ye being Ye is a fight for you to be you. For people In my life the idea of Trump is pretty much a 50 50 split but I don't tell a Hillary supporter not to support Hillary
I love Hillary too.— ye (@kanyewest) April 25, 2018
He also tweeted Friday, April 27 that he hasn’t “done enough research on conservatives to call myself or be called one. I’m just refusing to be enslaved by monolithic thought.”
The tweet follows a Thursday, April 26 “Fox & Friends” interview with Trump where he praised Ye for being “smart.”
“Kanye looks and he sees Black unemployment at the lowest it’s been in the history of our country … he see’s that stuff and he’s smart.” Trump says after noting the rapper “has good taste.”
“And he says, ‘You know what, Trump is doing a much better job than the Democrats did,’” the president added.
Meanwhile, several Twitter users have been discussing the West-inspired fundraising tweets.
“Kanye better not show up at the next cookout…” someone demanded.
“Yeezus wept,” said another.
“This makes me nauseous,” someone else posted.
They like useful idiots.
