This Explains Why Colin Kaepernick Was Seen In Houston Training

Colin Kaepernick isn’t letting his continued free agent status stop him from training for the NFL.

The former San Francisco 49er quarterback is spending training season in Houston with Josh Hidalgo, who is the head of sports performance at William Paterson University, according to TMZ.

Hidalgo told the website he’s been training the political athlete daily since January 2017.

“We haven’t stopped throwing, training and preparing,” he said. “To say he’s dedicated is an understatement … Even when we’re traveling we put in that work.”

Kaepernick, who has been out of the NFL since 2017, a year after he stirred controversy by kneeling during the national anthem, has maintained he wants to return to the league.

The QB spent the morning of Thursday, March 15 at a training facility filled with 90 minutes of making short and intermediate throws, Yahoo Sports reported.  While a Houston Texans insider told the website the team wasn’t aware that he was in town, the reason why the footballer was in the area was for team owner Bob McNair.

Kaepernick went to McNair’s deposition Friday, March 16 in connection to his collusion lawsuit against the NFL, TMZ reported. The case alleges the QB has remained unsigned because of a conspiracy among NFL owners following his protests.

In addition to McNair, Kaepernick’s attorneys have also subpoenaed Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen and coach Pete Carroll along with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and New England Patriots CEO Robert Kraft.
