Usher and his wife Grace Miguel have separated amid allegations from several women that the singer gave them herpes. In fact, it’s been reported that Usher and Miguel have already been apart for the past couple of months.
“After much thought and consideration, we have mutually decided to separate as a couple,” they said in a joint statement. “We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives. The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward.”
So far, perhaps not surprisingly, the couple hasn’t given any official statements about the herpes allegations, but Miguel was asked about it back in November.
“People are people living their lives,” she told a TMZ reporter.
One of the more recent updates concerning the herpes allegations occurred in October when Laura Helm, one of the accusers, dismissed her $20 million lawsuit, which the singer’s lawyer called a victory.
“It’s our sincere hope that this dismissal will bring an end to the opportunistic litigation against Usher in Georgia,” he said.
Usher and Miguel married in September of 2015 in Cuba.
