The NRA must go. And the lies folks tell about the NRA must go too. #livesOVERguns pic.twitter.com/IDITWxSWBq

Angela Rye is fed up with the National Rifle Association and is backing up her boyfriend Common’s stance on them in new comments.
The CNN political commentator on Monday fired back at network contributor Alice Stewart, who defended the NRA after it issued a response to Common’s Oscar performance.
During the 90th annual ceremony Sunday, March 4, he performed his song “Stand Up for Something” with singer Andra Day.
“On Oscar night, this is the dream we tell/A land where Dreamers live and freedom dwells … Tell the NRA they in God’s way/And to the people of Parkland we say Ase,” he rapped.
In response, the association released a PSA touting its support of the military, fallen soldiers and their families.
While Stewart applauded the NRA’s response, Rye had enough.
“These folks are wrong as two left shoes!” Rye exclaims on the March 5 broadcast of “CNN Tonight.” “They are wrong. This isn’t about the NRA standing up to protect people who are in Hollywood. This isn’t about people who are out of touch.
“Kids have died!” she continues. “The NRA is out of touch. They are in God’s way. Common had it right. We didn’t need anybody to tell us that. We don’t need you on here telling us how amazing the NRA is — they are not! They’re terrible, they are terrible. … It’s high time that there is an organization that competes with them to say, ‘We are not going to allow you to buy public service. That is not for sale.’ … I just can’t do the NRA PSA tonight.”
When Stewart claims Hollywood is hypocritical in its opposition toward the NRA, Rye reaches her boiling point.
“Do you know where these people are from?” she exclaims. “[Common] is from Chicago! “Like, stop! Just stop! Like, Alice, I like you as a person, but this is crazy! Stop!”
On Instagram, Rye had plenty of backers.
“GO INNNNNNN,” someone wrote.
“Alice’s comment or the blow about Common was uncalled for @angelaryekeep speaking out my sister!” another said. “She has drunk the cool aide of double mindedness, unstable in all her ways. Tossed to and fro no foundation no anchor!!!!! Shameful! Shameful!”
“Speak Sister Angela!!!! ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼@angelarye,” said another follower.
