Apology not accepted. A British political leader has dumped his girlfriend after her racist texts about Meghan Markle surfaced. Henry Bolton, the leader of the right-wing UK Independence Party, broke the news that he and 25-year-old Jo Marney, are no longer an item after she wrote texts claiming Prince Harry’s fiancée “will taint” the royal line.
“The romantic element of the relationship is over, I’m afraid, as of last night,” Bolton, 54, told BBC 4’s “Today” Monday, Jan. 15, via The Guardian.
The still-married father of two added that the comments from his girlfriend of only a month were “indefensible”.
Marney, a UKIP member, described Markle — whose mother is Black and father is white — as “a scrubber” and said she’s obsessed with race.”
“This is Britain, not Africa,” Marney allegedly wrote before adding, “Not wanting other races and cultures to invade your own culture doesn’t mean I hate their race. Just means I don’t want their cultures invading mine.”
She also reportedly said she wouldn’t “have sex with a negro” because Black people are “ugly. Not my thing. Just personal taste. They don’t turn me on.”
Marney has since issued an apology for her remarks, which she allegedly sent a friend the late last year — weeks before her relationship with Bolton began. They surfaced over the weekend through The Daily Mail.
“I apologize unreservedly for the shocking language I used,” Marney said in a statement to the newspaper. “The opinions I expressed were deliberately exaggerated in order to make a point and have, to an extent, been taken out of context. Yet I fully recognize the offense they have caused.”
“I have disappointed them all and let myself down,” the now suspended UKIP member added. “I cannot sufficiently express my regret and sadness at having done so.”
As a result, many in UKIP called for Bolton’s resignation. But he currently has no plans to step down.
“No, not at all. I have no intention of resigning,” he told “Today.” “And indeed, the people who have been calling for my resignation are people who for some time have been trying to undermine the leadership of the party in any case.”
Since news of Marney’s remarks were brought to light, many have been making their opinions known.
One Twitter user wrote that while she doesn’t get the fuss over the royal family, “Jo Marney’s comments about Meghan Markle are absolutely disgusting.”
“She needs to stop throwing racist remarks around to compensate for the facts she’s an ugly slag,” she added. “Oh, and no one believes you’re 25 either.”
Another user said Marney has “got some front calling Megan ugly,” adding, “I wouldn’t rump you if you was the last bird in Magaluf!”
Others took aim at her apology.
I like the way Jo Marney uses the “taken out of context” defence. In exactly what context could such vile comments be acceptable?

Naw. That’s not an apology. You’re sorry you got caught. Not about what you said and feel. Disgusting comments. Change yourself.
