Get Ready for the Next Tennis Champion! Serena Williams Is Reportedly In Labor

Tennis star Serena Williams is about to add a new accomplishment to her list — becoming a mother.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner is reportedly in labor after being induced Thursday, Aug. 31, according to CBS12. The star checked into St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., Wednesday, and the whole first floor is on lockdown, with entry being permitted only by passing through security.

This is the first child for Williams and her Reddit co-founder fiancé Alexis Ohanian. Williams accidentally revealed the news on Snapchat in April and fans quickly realized she was expecting when she won the Australian Open (by beating her big sister Venus) in January.

“If you would have told me last year in October or November that I would have a baby — not be pregnant but have a baby — I would have thought you were the biggest liar in the world,” the 35-year-old told Vanity Fair earlier this year. “This is kind of how I am right now. This is happening sooner than later and it’s going by so fast.”

Williams was expected to give birth in the fall and is readying a return to the tennis court as soon as January 2018.
