Like many women, Niecy Nash has been far more critical of her own body than others may be. However, she came to realize how negatively she speaks about her physique and how that internal dialogue has adversely affected her perception of herself.
So, she decided to change the conversation — and her fans are applauding her for it.
Nash, an actress/comedian who stars in the upcoming TNT dramedy “Claws,” premiering June 11, posted a series of images in a one-piece swimsuit Thursday, April 27, that showed off all of her curves. Rather than focusing on the negative aspects of her appearance, this time she chose only to see the positive.
“I APOLOGIZE to myself! I bought a new swimsuit and tried it on last night, then proceeded to drag myself? — pointing out every ‘flaw,’ every bump, lump, scar, ripple and stretch mark,” she wrote. “Then I remembered that my body will hear everything my mind thinks about it…. then I thought about my dear sister friend [Danielle Brooks] and how she celebrates her chocolatey thickness (she’s so fine!)
“I changed my conversation with myself,” Nash said. “These hips caught two husbands … I see my c-section scar peeking out (thank you [Kat Von D] for putting a tattoo over it) but it’s a reminder that I brought three beautiful children into the world. I allowed my stretch marks to whisper, ‘you are a grown ass women who has survived a few thangs and STRETCHED in ways you never thought you could.’ ”

Nash has never shied away from discussing her body image. As a contestant on season 10 of “Dancing With The Stars,” she celebrated her “jiggly” physique.
“I love looking like a woman,” she told People magazine in 2010. “In fact, I go around to some of my competitors and try to force feed them doughnuts.”
Many fans celebrated Nash’s view of her body.
