Nigerian Bobsledding Team Making History on Its Way to 2018 Winter Games

Let’s face it, Black people only watch the Olympics to root on other Black people. While the Summer Olympics get most of the views and love, there are three pretty good reasons to watch the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

In two years, the world will be introduced to three stunning Nigerian athletes aiming to take home gold in bobsledding. Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga and Ngozi Onwumere have taken the Internet by storm with their dance moves and “Cool Runnings”-like origin story.

It all started with Adigun, who served as the Team USA bobsled break woman in the 2012 Olympics. Now, the former leader of Nigeria’s track and field team will spearhead the trio and serve as the team’s driver. But Adigun has done more than just form Nigeria’s first bobsledding team, she also has created a bobsled federation on the African continent, according to Okay Africa.
