Young Entrepreneur Finds Excellent Way to Keep ‘Buy Black’ Movement Going

A Black businessman will fuel the “Buy Black” movement with his Black business directory, WeBuyBlack.com. The website will serve as an outlet that will bring products created by Black-owned businesses to one easy and accessible place for consumers.

Back in July, Atlanta rapper and activist Killer Mike called Black people to action after the police-involved shootings of Baton Rouge’s Alton Sterling and Falcon Heights, Minnesota’s Philando Castile. In a passionate radio interview with HOT 107.9‘s Mz Shyneka, he told Black people to transfer their savings to Black-owned banks. “Don’t spend a dollar on a dog that don’t speak up for you!”

WeBuyBlack.com founder Shareef Abdul Malik believes in Killer Mike’s message. Abdul Malik tells France24 that he wants to create a marketplace where Black people can purchase all of their necessities from Black-owned companies. In fact, his website has already increased sales for True Detergent, per Sales Director Ali Muhammad.
