Mary J. Blige’s soon-to-be ex-husband is looking to gain alimony in their divorce. Atlanta Black Star reported the end of Blige’s marriage to Kendu Isaacs in July.

The singer is the one who pulled the trigger on the 12-year union, citing irreconcilable differences. She requested a judge block Isaacs from getting any monetary support from her.

TMZ reported on Thursday that Isaacs, who formerly managed the superstar, filed a response to Blige’s divorce request. He wants a court-ordered provision for funds after the separation.

Additionally, Isaac’s petition lists the date of separation as July 25. However, Blige’s documents declared the date “to be determined.”

On top of alimony, Isaacs wants The Wiz actress to pay for his lawyer’s fees.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Blige is worth $10 million. But she has experienced financial woes in the past. In 2013, she owed $3.4 million to the Internal Revenue Service. That same year she needed to pay New Jersey $900,000.  A year before, she faced a  lawsuit for defaulting on a $2.2 million loan.

Blige paid taxes to New Jersey in 2014 but still owed the IRS. Then, TMZ reported in June that New Jersey imposed a new lien on her for $166,000.

Regardless of her money woes, Blige is working hard on a new album, as she revealed in her initial divorce statement.

“Ms. Blige is saddened to say it is true that she has filed for divorce saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would,” it read. “But, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything. Mary will continue writing & working on her album which is due out later this year along with her world tour. She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time.”

She also recently contributed to The Black Eyed Peas’ charity single, “Where Is The Love,” according to Billboard.
