In yesterday’s edition of Fox & Friends, conservative commentators Tucker Carlson, Anna Kooiman and guest Deneen Borelli smear a Black Louisiana lawmaker who said the Declaration of Independence was racist.
The show clip begins with an audio clip of Louisiana State Representative Barbara Norton, a Black Democrat.
Norton said while on the Louisiana State House floor:
“For The Declaration of Independence, only Caucasians was free. And for you to bring a bill to request that our children will recite The Declaration, I think it’s a little bit unfair.”
Immediately after the clip, the conservative commentators ridiculed Norton, calling her unpatriotic and stating that her beliefs are unfounded.
Deneen Borelli, a Black commentator for Fox & Friends, blatantly says that Norton does not know history:
“Well this is outrageous. First of all, slavery was before the documents. Our founding fathers created these documents. These documents are the blueprint of our country. For her to be attacking the Declaration of Independence, that is attacking liberty. That’s attacking freedom.”
Borelli says that students are not learning the “real history and are getting this twisted view from people like Representative Norton.”
Then Borelli blames Democrats and says they are the real racists:
“Why not attack the history of the Democrat Party, which she is a member of? The party of the KKK. The party of trying to keep Blacks enslaved and to keep Blacks segregated. Why not attack that history? I find it selective outrage on her part in attacking our documents of our country.”
