19-Year-old Columbia University Student Has Been Missing for a Week, Bank Accounts, Credit Cards Deactivated

Family members of a 19-year-old Columbia University student who has been reportedly missing for more than a week continue their search for her.

Nayla Kidd is a sophomore engineering student, and according to reports by CBS New York, her family was searching the streets of Manhattan and working to get the word out about her disappearance.

“For her to be missing right now is very heart wrenching,” Nayla Kidd’s mother, LaCreis Kidd, told reporters.

She came from Kentucky when she found out about her missing daughter.

Investigators told media that the young woman was last seen leaving a dorm on May 5. They assume she may have taken the train to her apartment on Broadway.

Since her disappearance, she has missed all of her finals, which sent red flags to her family and friends.

“This is not Nayla. She prides herself on doing her very best in school,” LaCreis Kidd said.

Police have also stated that the student deactivated her Facebook account, credit cards, and turned off her cell phone.

Family members are vehement about finding Kidd. Her mother has been posting flyers throughout the campus and neighborhood.
