In an exclusive interview with Houston’s ABC 13, Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles-Lawson dishes about her daughter’s new album and the controversy coming from the alleged anti-police and pro-Black messages.
“People make it all about the cheating and betrayal and, yes, that’s a part of it because that is something you have to heal from,” Knowles-Lawson told the Houston news outlet. “If you really listen to the poetry, it is one of hope and redemption and hopefully that can be healing for people.”
The interview takes place while there were ongoing protests outside of Houston’s NRG Stadium from the Coalition for Police and Sheriffs.
“My children are my rock and they are,” she said. “It’s just been the best gift God could have given me.”
