It has been 25 years since the Black classic crime thriller, “New Jack City,” first hit the big screen. An unforgettable look into New York City’s drug ring during the 1980s, Nino Brown and his Cash Money Brothers crew dominated the city until one man was left standing. The 1991 film is based on an original story and screenplay by Thomas Lee Wright, and it was directed by Mario Van Peebles, who also co-stars. This film also starred Wesley Snipes, Ice-T, Allen Payne, Chris Rock, Michael Michele, Bill Nunn, Vanessa Williams, Christopher Williams, Tracy Camilla Johns and Bill Cobbs. Wesley Snipes as Nino Brown
Wesley Snipes plays Nino Brown, New York’s most favorite and respected drug lord during the crack epidemic. Since the film, Snipes has appeared in the “Blade” trilogy, “Demolition Man” and “White Men Can’t Jump.” He was sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion in 2010, and shortly after his release he continued acting. Most recently he starred in “The Expendables 3” and Spike Lee’s 2015 satirical musical drama “Chi-Raq.”
