‘Fresh Prince’ Star Tatyana Ali Engaged and Expecting Her First Child

Tatyana Ali is having a baby and preparing to wed. The 37-year-old star of the hit 1990s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” plans to marry fiance Dr. Vaughn Rasberry this summer. The pair is also expecting their first child together.

Ali, who played Ashley Banks on the NBC show, said she wants to include the baby news in her wedding.

“Planning our wedding has been so exciting, but when we found out we were expecting, our perspective shifted completely,”Ali told Entertainment Tonight. “We want our ceremony to really celebrate our newest blessing!

ET reports the bride-to-be met Rasberry online a year and a half ago.

“Vaughn and I met on eHarmony!” Ali said to ET. “It was my first time dating online. We wrote letters for months before we decided to Skype. And then, of course, met.”

Rasberry proposed during a hike in the Yosemite, California Redwood forest. It lasted 45 minutes, and the soon-to-be groom popped the ring “in the most picturesque clearing,” according to Ali.

Celebrity wedding planner Michael Russo will throw the ceremony. According to his website, he has contributed to the nuptials of former co-host of “The View” Sherri Shepherd and her then-husband Lamar Sally, as well as Ali’s “Fresh Prince” co-star Alfonso Ribeiro and his wife Angela Unkrich.

Thursday night, the singer-actress wrote about how happy she was that the news of her engagement and pregnancy went public.

Raspberry is an assistant professor of English at Stanford University, according to the school’s website, and Ali graduated from Harvard in 2002 reports Black Entertainment Televison.

Since “Fresh Prince” ended in 1996, Ali has kept busy with an acting career. She has been featured on two BET shows — “Second Generation Wayans” in 2013 and most recently, she had two guest stints on BET’s newest sitcom “Zoe Ever After,” according to Internet Movie Database.
