Tatyana Ali has landed a role on BET’s upcoming comedy show Second Generation Wayans.
Second Generation Wayans’ concept surrounds the lives of of the next generation of the Wayans family. Its focus is based on the real life Hollywood experiences of Craig and Damien Wayans as the newcomers of a successful comedy family. George O. Gore II will also star in the series.
Ali will play Maya, Damien’s personal assistant who struggles to manage the younger Wayans.
The actress is best known for playing Ashley Banks on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, alongside Will Smith. At this time, she stars as Tyana Jones on Martin Lawrence’s TV One original sitcom Love That Girl!, and is a recurring regular as Roxanne on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless.
Shawn and Marlon Wayans are executive producing the TV show and Craig and Damien co-wrote the series along with Devon Shepard.
“Hollywood is a very tough place to be, especially if you’re black,” Damon Wayans said when describing the new show as “like an Entourage” for his nephews.
