doualy-minn-shooting_wide-9a8c5559ac15271f490dcf4177c1250e6e44741f-s500-c85Five people were shot last night as three gunmen opened fire into a crowd protesting near the Minneapolis Police Department’s 4th Precinct.

The shooting occurred at 10:45 p.m., about a block north of the precinct station, where protesters have held daily demonstrations since the fatal Nov. 15 police shooting of 24-year-old Jamar Clark.

The protesters were hospitalized late Monday night with non-life threatening injuries. The Minneapolis Police Department announced on their Twitter account that they were searching for three white male suspects.

According to witnesses, three counter protesters were behaving suspiciously at the rally, recording protesters and refusing to answer any questions. One, according to witnesses, was wearing a bullet proof vest.

Around 25 protesters began to escort the group away from the rally when shots were fired.

Local protesters quickly took to social media to inform the public of the attack.

Local protesters plan to continue their daily protests. The Black Lives Matter MPLS chapter posted:
