Officer who shot #ChristianTaylor Fired and Facing Charges (Breaking)

Officer Brad Miller

The Arlington, Texas, police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black teenager has now been fired, Police Chief Will Johnson announced Tuesday during a press conference.

Johnson said 49-year-old Officer Brad Miller, who was undergoing field training, was terminated “for exercising poor judgement” and not following department procedure when he entered the dealership alone to pursue 19-year old Christian Taylor. Johnson stated also that there was no physical contact between Miller and Taylor, an account which contradicts earlier versions given by Johnson.

The officers ordered Mr. Taylor to lie down, and when he fled instead, they chased him. He was found trying to get out of the building through a locked glass door. Chief Johnson said that the two officers struggled with Mr. Taylor and that Officer Miller fired four shots.

Miller now faces a criminal investigation by the Tarrant County District Attorney, according to Johnson.

Taylor, a football player at Angelo State University, was accused of burglary by driving his SUV through the windows of a car dealership last Friday.

The death has been ruled a homicide.
