No strangers to the TV world, R&B songstresses Kelly Rowland and Brandy Norwood are both preparing to kick off their own new series on BET.
While the rumor mill was hopeful that Kelly and Brandy were going to be teaming up on the same show, a statement from BET revealed that both of the beauties will be leading their own individual projects for the network.
Kelly will be diving back into the world of reality singing competitions while Brandy will be leading a new scripted romantic comedy.
The former Destiny’s Child singer will help discover the “next blazing hot singing sensation,” BET’s statement revealed.
She will act as a judge on the singing competition show Chasing Destiny, which will “bring together young women” and help lead them to super stardom.
It won’t be anything too unfamiliar for Kelly who previously occupied a seat at the judge’s table on Simon Cowell’s X Factor.
It isn’t clear if Kelly will be working solely as a judge or if she will also be more hands-on with contestants and serve as a mentor as well.
After the statement was released, Kelly took to Twitter to confirm the announcement and express her excitement over the new opportunity.
“Excited to launch my new show with @BET – ‘Chasing Destiny,’ “ she tweeted.
Meanwhile, Brandy has decide to leave the reality show business to her younger brother Ray J as she was confirmed for a lead role on BET’s new scripted romantic comedy Zoe Moon.
With The Game currently in its last season, BET’s announcement gives Brandy fans a sense of relief with a promise that she will remain on the air thanks to the new program.
Zoe Moon will follow the life of a young Black woman running a cosmetics empire following her divorce.
BET’s statement says Brandy’s character will be “embarking on her new life and career” as a “newly divorced single mom.”
Drama ensues, however, as the cosmetic mogul’s ex-husband makes it clear he is “not ready to take a back seat” in her life and her young son is still trying to navigate the reality of his mom’s new dating life.
The actual premiere dates have not been announced for either of the new shows.
